The McLaren GT is a unique vehicle in the brand’s lineup, designed to be a “superlight grand tourer.” It was created to combine the thrilling performance and handling of a McLaren supercar with the comfort, usability, and practicality needed for long-distance journeys.

The GT’s design is a blend of a traditional grand tourer and a mid-engined supercar. It has a sleek, flowing silhouette with a prominent “shark-like” nose and a long rear deck, which is a significant design element that provides its practical luggage space. The car retains McLaren’s signature dihedral (butterfly) doors. The body is made of lightweight carbon fiber and is built on a unique carbon fiber monocoque chassis called the MonoCell II-T.
