The BMW M5 is a high-performance executive sedan that serves as the pinnacle of the BMW 5 Series lineup. For its latest generation (G90), the M5 has fundamentally transformed by adopting a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, called M Hybrid, to deliver a massive increase in power while retaining its duality as a comfortable luxury sedan and a track-capable sports car. The M5 features significantly enlarged wheel arches and wider fenders to accommodate staggered, high-performance tires (often 20 inches front and 21 inches rear), giving it an unmistakable, wide, and low-slung stance. The driver’s area is race-inspired. The M Steering Wheel features a thick rim, a red 12 o’clock marker, and M shift paddles. It includes dedicated M1 and M2 buttons for instant recall of two personalized performance setups (e.g., one for daily driving, one for the track).
